Hello All,
Living on my own for a year I finally figured out what the “essentials” to have your in apartment.
1) Food: Simple and easy. Go shopping once a week and buy real food. Not snacks. You never know when a lady friend might want to come over for some dinner. What are you going to do? Order-In? A friend’s girlfriend recently cooked at my place and she laughed when she saw the refrigerator/freezer empty. We had to go out shopping for everything so she can cook. Buy a mix of macaroni,meat,bread,cheese, even pizza if you have too.
2) Drinks: It sucks when you are thirsty and you have to run to the gas station to grab a cold beverage. It has happened to me in the past when working from home. Get a mix of water, soda, Snapple, orange,juices, and most importantly some alcoholic beverages.
3) Movies: Let’s face it sometimes cable TV sucks. I would rather watch paint dry than watch the cr*p they have on. Get some classic action and/or funny movies to always have on hand. You never know when you might have company over and they wouldn’t mind watching a movie instead of watching TV. My Cousin Vinny=INSTANT WIN
4) Video Game System: So this somewhat adds to number #3. Sometimes the movies you have are just old and not up to date. So we resort to video games. Currently Wii,XBOX 360 and PS3 are the hot video game consoles
For the Wii you have Wii Resort, Mario Kart, Wii Sports and a few others. I am the champ at Wii Boxing.
For XBOX360 and PS3 you have the Guitar Hero and Rock Band series which absolutely rocks your face if you play it loud enough.
5) Pillows/Sheets: You never know when your friends or potential girlfriend might sleep over. My advice to you is to have some extra pillows/sheets laying around for your friends if it turns into a drunk episode. You don’t want to be a fool if they sleep on the floor with nothing. It’s not right.
