Ode To Beer: Audacious Apricot Ale from Pyramid Brewery

Greetings gentlemen, it’s Brendan, your resident bachelor. Those who know me, know I am a man of many talents. These talents include such things as screaming obscenities at children and the elderly, administering lie detector tests with a grapefruit and an electric razor, but my closets friends and my AA sponsor know me best for my true passion. That is beer. Yes gentlemen, I am what you call a beer enthusiast and about a month and a half ago, this beer enthusiast left the quiet shores of New York City to visit family and friends in Arizona.

When I first arrived there, I thought, “Fuck it’s hot. This was a terrible idea.” But then something happened, something that has never happened to me before. On my second day there, somebody handed me a beer. A beer that I had never heard of before, from a brewery I had never heard of before. I must admit, it was a little embarrassing. I had always thought I was a true beer conosur, but with red cheeks and wounded pride, I opened the beer and took my first sip. The second it hit my tongue, the pain went away. And everyone of my taste buds were alive. I felt like a 13 year old kid who just took their first sip of their father’s stale beer he left on the kitchen table. After countless years at countless bars and parties, I felt like I was taking a sip of beer for the first time all over again. Inspired by my discovery, I have decided to do a weekly article showcasing a different beer each time and what better way to begin then with the beer that started it all.
