NBA Negotiations Are Looking Terrible.

Looks like news surrounding the NBA lockout is getting worse before better. Does anyone care? Hell yeah, I do, because I don’t enjoy hockey. I’m not dissing hockey, it’s just isn’t as exciting to me as basketball. I’ve waited a long time for the New York Knicks to look good again, and this lockout has crushed my dreams! Looks like Carmelo isn’t the answer to everything.

The NBA Players Association plans to reject the owners’ proposed collective bargaining agreement and disband the union. If this move happens, you can kiss basketball goodbye this season.

Just about the only thing that could save the season would be if the owners were so shocked by the rejection of their proposal and are so afraid of losing an entire season’s worth of revenue that they scramble and put forth a proposal tonight that would hold off the dissolving of the players association. David Stern has remained pretty hard-nosed throughout this entire process, but maybe he’s afraid of having a canceled season on his legacy and makes one more push. (via: brobible)

The lockout took a terrible turn today as mentioned. According to Yahoo Sports:

Monday, Nov. 14, can probably be looked back on as the day that the 2011-12 NBA season was destroyed. The players announced that the owners have not negotiated in good faith and the player’s union will now dissolve, opening up the league to anti-trust lawsuits from all the players.

Edgar Sosa Breaks Leg During FIBA Game

Nothing is more brutal than getting injured playing the game you love. Breaking a leg playing basketball or football, getting a concussion playing soccer, tennis elbow from playing too much tennis or golf. When it’s caught on video on the other hand, now that is a sight everyone wants to see. Check out this video of Edgar Sosa, who used to play NCAA basketball for Louisville, breaking his leg during a basketball game.

Edgar Sosa, who played his college basketball at Louisville, broke his leg this weekend in a horrific incident in which he landed on his right leg awkwardly. It’s kind of hard to explain, but the break was super graphic. You can see both his teammates and opposing players throw their hands up to almost cover their eyes. That speaks to just how horrible the break was. Oh, and hearing Sosa scream also should tip you to his pain. (via: flisted)

WARNING! This video is very disturbing because it shows the actual break, you may not want to view this if you just ate lunch.

Five Things in Sports That Make Absolutely No Sense

Our friends over at Uncoached have put together a list of things that make no sense in sports, this includes the NBA, MLB, & NCAA. I agree with all of these examples listed here. Check ‘em out.

1) Teams placed into divisions nowhere near their location.- Take the New Orleans Hornets in the NBA. Why are they in the the Western Division? The Toronto Blue Jays are in the AL East. Let’s not even start with the NCAA and the Big East.

2) Men that cannot make foul shots.- If your getting paid millions of dollars to run up & down a basketball court, you should practice your foul shots. It’s the easiest basket to make. You are standing still with no defender in your face & you are aiming at the backboard. How hard can this be? Some guys shoot in the 50% range & that is terrible.

3) The Designated Hitter.- This is an on-going debate between the American League & National League divisions. In my opinion, a pitcher shouldn’t have to hit. What if god forbid they get a ball thrown at them, get seriosuly hurt and break something. There is a good chance that they can never pitch again.

4) All-Star Game Voting.- It’s a popularity contest and it’s not fair to other players, end of story.

This Guy Sucks: What Dennis Rodman & Lebron James Have In Common.

Dennis Rodman got real physical at a bar in Akron, Ohio earlier this week, TMZ has learned — allegedly shoving a local patron after the man uttered two unforgivable words … “LeBron James.”

According to the police report, obtained by TMZ, the man in question — named Michael Douglas (NOT the actor) — stopped by a local bar after he heard Rodman was drinking there.

According to the report, Douglas walked up to Rodman and joked with him — asking if he was in town to check up on LeBron … and for some reason, Rodman flipped and shoved him back.

Douglas wasn’t injured — and as of now, police aren’t pursuing an investigation due to lack of evidence.

But it all must be news to the Worm — because Rodman’s rep tells us, “Dennis has no clue what this is about.” (via: TMZ)

John Wall Cannot Throw a Pitch to Save His Life

John Wall can certainly play basketball, this we know, but if he ever tries to throw a baseball again, someone take it out of his hands. This is just embarrassing.

Shaq To Retire

When I was younger, I loved the New York Knicks. But, I also liked individual players. Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, and Shaquille O’Neal. After playing 19 years in the NBA, Shaq announced yesterday on his twitter page that he will be retiring.

This Guy Sucks: Oh No You Didn’t Kobe!

Oh Kobe Bryant, a thorn in my side. As much as I can’t stand the Lakers, I can’t stand him even more. He is too cocky. Granted, he is a phenomenal basketball player and no one can take that away from him, but the way he carries himself and the way he acts on the court, it’s crazy. When Carmelo Anthony or Lebron James make awesome shots or assist in a great play, they at least smile with their team mates. Kobe has a stone cold look on his face like he is expected to be that good. Your not Michael Jordan man.

During Tuesday nights game against the Spurs, Bryant did something that has ticked off the lesbian/gay community.

First, a summary for you. After a referee penalized him for a technical foul, Bryant was caught on camera—and live television—referring to him as a “f–king f—-t.”

“Discriminatory slurs have no place on or off the court,” Jarrett Barrios, president of gay media watchdog group GLAAD, said in a statement. “Professional sports players need to set a better example for young people who use words like this on the playground and in our schools, creating a climate of intolerance and hostility.”
Barrios also said the Lakers should “educate their fans about why this word is unacceptable.”

Bryant insists he meant no harm. “What I said last night should not be taken literally,” he said in s statement. “My actions were out of frustration during the heat of the game, period. The words expressed do NOT reflect my feelings towards the gay and lesbian communities and were NOT meant to offend anyone.”

Bryant didn’t exactly win over GLAAD.

“This statement is a start, but the NBA must now take action,” Barrios said. “No matter the intent, slurs like this fuel intolerance. The NBA has a chance to show leadership by taking disciplinary measures and sending a message that words like this have no place in sports. All sports leagues have a responsibility to create a safe environment for fans, employees and players.” (via: E!online)

TMZ has posted the video from the game. Check it out.
